AWE 32 / 64 and SBLive
These cards support SoundFonts as the method of storing sounds. To upload
the SoundFonts WaveSurgeon writes, AWE owners should use the control panel (downloadable
from the Creative Website). SBLive owners should instead use the included AudioHQ
application, and double click the SoundFont option.
AWE Users
Click the æUserÆ tab. Select a free variation number from the list
box (e.g. 001). Click æBrowseÆ, select the SoundFont 2.0 (.sf2) file you
have saved, and click æOKÆ. Click æApplyÆ. If you receive a message
informing you that you do not have enough memory free, try selecting the æSynthÆ
tab, selecting the æGeneral MidiÆ option from the æAvailable SynthÆ
tab, clicking æApplyÆ, and repeating the above steps.
SBLive Users
Click the æConfigure BankÆ tab. Select a free bank number from the
list box (e.g. 001). Click æLoadÆ, select the SoundFont 2.0 (.sf2) file
you have saved, and click æOKÆ. Click æSelectÆ. If you receive a
message informing you that you do not have enough memory free, try selecting a
bank and clicking æClearÆ, or increasing the SoundFont Cache from
the æoptionsÆ tab.
You may then select a bank in your sequencer (look in your sequencer manual for
help) to match the bank you have loaded the SoundFont into (e.g. bank 001 in the
control panel matches bank 1 in your sequencer), and select program change 1.
Terratec EWS
WaveSurgeon does not directly support this card at present. However, we believe
that it currently supports SoundFonts.
Turtle Beach Pinnacle
The Pinnacle file format requires that samples be saved separately from the
.PBF file. It is therefore advisable that a.) bank files are given unique names
to prevent overwriting, and b.) bank files are saved in directories created specially
for them (you may right click in the save dialog box and click æNew>FolderÆ
to do this). To upload the files, use the included software, or the shareware Everest
Editor.
Turtle Beach Montego
These cards support DLS format soundbanks; note that these currently only
support mono files. To upload DLS banks to the card, open the Montego entry in
the control panel, select the Midi tab, and click æDownloadÆ.
Other cards
Users without a soundcard which supports sample-upload may save the individual
segments with the æSplit Wave Fileæ option, again under the File menu.
Load the files into a æWavePlayerÆ type utility (as built into MicroLogic 2.0,
or supplied with Cubasis), and map to the keyboard, beginning on the Start Note
you selected.
GigaSampler
You may create GigaSampler banks by choosing the 'Save Sound Bank'
option, and changing the file format to '.gig'.
NOTE: You must have enough on-board memory to load the sample. Owners of
unsupported soundcards may use a converter such as Awave to convert the SoundFont
to their card format (e-mail Square Circle
for help if you have any questions).
